Our curriculum reflects a shared commitment to high-quality, student-centered learning that is thoughtful, engaging, and responsive to the needs of every learner. While teaching and learning naturally evolve to meet the interests and needs of students, our curriculum provides the strong foundation that guides instruction across every classroom.

Our Approach

We believe every student deserves to learn in a school community where they feel welcomed, respected, and deeply valued. Our commitment to diversity and inclusion is rooted in our responsibility to create a learning environment that actively promotes kindness, empathy, respect, and responsible citizenship.

New Jersey’s Diversity and Inclusion requirement, established through N.J.S.A. 18A:35-4.36a, serves a different educational purpose from the Comprehensive Health and Physical Education Standards. Diversity and inclusion are not taught as a standalone program or course. Rather, these concepts are thoughtfully integrated throughout the school experience as part of our commitment to fostering a respectful, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment for every child.

These learning experiences are embedded across subjects such as English Language Arts, Social Studies, Library Media, and school-wide character education initiatives, providing students with meaningful opportunities to honor and celebrate diverse perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds.

What Students Learn

Students learn to recognize and appreciate the many differences that exist within our school, our community, and the world around them. Through age-appropriate learning experiences, students develop empathy, respect, and an appreciation for diverse perspectives and experiences.

Students engage in learning experiences that support an understanding of:

We recognize that families are the foundation of a child’s values, beliefs, and understanding of the world. The role of Englewood Cliffs Public Schools is to provide students with opportunities to learn about, appreciate, and respectfully engage with the diverse world around them while honoring the important role families play in their children’s development.
